Kerala by Wander Womaniya (9 - 15 December 2023)

Day wise itinerary specially designed by Wander Womaniya for girls traveling solo in India

Kerala, a state on India's tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It's known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, and a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee, and spice plantations as well as wildlife.
The god's own country has a true blend of backwater, western ghat hills & lovely white sand beaches.
Varkala is a small town in Kerala with abundant natural beauty. This charming town sits nestled on the coastal stretch overlooking the Arabian sea & it isn't anything that you associate Kerala with! Imagine a serene cleaner version of Goa with fewer crowds.

Day 1: Swagatham in Kerala

Reach Trivandrum airport, & head to Varkala. It is one of the most scenic beaches in India after Andamans & Lakshadweep. Reach your hotel and soak in the vibes of the quaint town of Varkala. Evening by the famous North Cliff of Varkala.

Day 2: Varkala Sightseeing & Jatayu Earth Centre

Wake up early and take a refreshing walk on the cool shores. Grab your breakfast and start off for some local sightseeing.

Start your day absorbing some peaceful vibes by visiting Jatayu Earth's centre, Jatayu Adventure Centre in Kerala has the world's largest bird sculpture. Featuring the world's largest bird sculpture, the Jatayu Adventure Centre at Chadayamangalam in Kollam, Kerala is a one-of-a-kind theme park based on the Indian epic, the Ramayana. The ropeway ride is worth the distance. It was made to celebrate the sacrifice of jatayu to save Sita when Raavan abducted her. One can also enjoy zip-lining here.

We will also visit the Anjengo fort & lighthouse today. (The fort is actually more of a barrack where soldiers & arms were garrisoned, hence do not expect a huge fort or palace :P but it is an important landmark in Varkala)

On our way back we will stop at Janardanaswamy Vishnu temple with beautiful architecture dating back centuries ago.

Day 3: Alleppey

Today we will visit Allepey to experience the venice of India. We pass under various bridges and see the true beauty of Kerala. Overnight stay in Alleppey

Day 4: Alleppey to Munnar

Start your day with a visit to the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, the highest tea plantation in the world. Take a guided tour of the estate and learn about the tea-making process while enjoying the breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Then we head to the Mattupetty Dam for a relaxing boat ride on the serene waters. Enjoy the scenic surroundings of tea plantations and rolling hills. End the day with a visit to the Kundala Lake, a beautiful reservoir surrounded by lush green hills. Take a leisurely walk around the lake and enjoy the cool breeze while taking in the scenic views.
